Week in Review, Feb. 26: Possible School Cuts, Playoffs, King's Skate
A look back at the week ending Feb. 26.
Another busy week in Rosemont is coming to a close. As we all wonder why it's not snowing in Rosemont, take a look back at some of the other stories that made headlines this week:
- - It's that time of the year again, and we got some tax tips from a local H&R Block manager.
- - The local school district is planning its "worst-case scenario" budget, and it's going to take a lot of cuts to find a balanced budget.
- - The popular roller rink on Bradshaw Road will hold its final night of skating from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday.
- - The Capital Christian School girls basketball team had an easy home win in the first round of the playoffs.
- - The Cordova Recreation and Park District has named an interim district administrator, but won't say why.
- - A football team made almost entirely of Rosemont residents is now in Florida for a championship tournament.
- - The Capital Christian School boys also had an easy first-round playoff victory at home.
- - Need a new home? If you've got the guts, these two could be bargains.
- - Our weekly "Moms Talk" feature gives local parents a place to weigh in on parenting issues. This time we talk driving schools.
- - Well, is it? By the end of the week, weather was all anyone could talk about.
- - Parents showed obvious concern during a forum this week about the proposed cuts the district may make.
