Was Your Dad the Original Hipster?

In honor of Father's Day, post old-school photos of your dad.

Looking at old family photographs, you probably noticed something.

Your dad had a funky sense of style.  So funky, it was cool then and even cooler now.

There's a funny blog paying homage to our dads and their quirky wardrobes.  It's called Dads Are the Original Hipsters and you can check out hundreds of user-submitted photos from decades ago, all of them showing dads dressed in what we'd now consider "hipster" attire.

You know what I'm talking about.  The tight jeans, the clunky black plastic glasses, the weird vest he sported without a shirt underneath.

Back then, your dad wore ripped jeans because he couldn't afford a new pair.  These days, torn jeans cost $120 at Abercrombie and Fitch

See what I mean?  Dads were hipsters before their time.

My dad was no different.  After leaving the Marines in 1978, he decided to grow a Tom Selleck mustache and wear trucker's hats.  Total hipster.

What about your dad?  Since Father's Day is around the corner, Patch wants to see your old-school dad photos.  Upload them to our photo gallery and help pay tribute to dads and their oh-so awesome style.

I got the ball rolling with a couple of my dad.  Now it's your turn!

Roberto, Looks like the discourse is losing steam. There's an article in today's Bee by PaulRead More Krugman (Nobel Prize winner for economics) titled "Austerity policy creating long-term unemployment." I'd be interested in your thoughts on Krugman's take on the debt issue you raised days ago.

Now, now Mark, no need to get personal. Tom brings some important facts to the table. Our nation'sRead More spending is uncontrolled in almost every area including defense. We're not managing our spending and revenue is in the toilet. If the administration continues at this pace, they'll be going to Mexico for our next loan.
