Moms Talk Q&A: Keeping Schools Safe

Moms Talk answers a question about what to do if suspicious activity is seen at a local school.

Welcome to the first edition of Moms Talk, a weekly question-and-answer feature where we'll discuss topics parents may be wondering about. If you'd like to submit a question, e-mail cody.kitaura@patch.com or post it in the comments section below.

Q. What should I do if I notice suspicious activity at an elementary school in the evenings or over the weekends?

A. If you believe the suspicious activity consists of acts of vandalism, breaking and entering or other criminal activity, you should call 911 and report what you see.  Any other activity can be reported using the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's non-emergency phone number at 916-874-5115. While there is no established time that people are not allowed on school grounds, it is preferred that people are not on campus after dark.  If you have additional questions, you can contact your neighborhood school campus for assistance.
