In honor of Memorial Day, Patch has gathered a list of local events and happenings for the upcoming weekend.

Sunday

The 13th Annual Reading of Names will take place at the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Capitol Park.  This event commemorates fallen Vietnam veterans by reading their names from the memorial's wall.  The reading will start at 7 a.m. with a break at noon for a brief ceremony, followed by the continued reading of names.

Monday

In Rancho Cordova, the city's sixth annual Memorial Day Ceremony starts at 9:30 a.m. at 10535 Hospital Way. Two F-16 jets from the California National Guard's 144th Fighter Wing will perform a flyover, with speeches and presentations given by members of the armed forces.

In Fair Oaks, Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary at 8201 Greenback Lane will hold a ceremony with bagpipers from the California National Guard.  A flyover will be performed along with parachuting troops.  Military vehicles will also be on display.  The ceremony starts at 11 a.m.

In Sacramento, at the California Mexican-American Veterans Memorial on 10th Street and Capitol Mall, the 22nd Annual California Mexican-American Veterans Memorial Day Service will take place at 1 p.m.
