Dec. 5: Choral Concerts, History, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

It's another rainy day in Rosemont today. End your weekend right with choral concerts, a history lesson and more.

  1. Get into the holiday spirit at with the church's 54th annual . About 30,000 people are expected to attend performances this year to check out the amazing sights and sounds of a 30-foot tree structure containing 40,000 lights and 110 choir members. In its 54th year, the event will feature the Capital Christian Center Choir, the Capital Children's Chorale, Capital Youth Choir and more. Today's performances are at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Ticket prices range from $5 to $25, with special family matinee discounts on Saturdays and Sundays.  
  2. Are you curious about what Rosemont was like before it became the suburban neighborhood it is today? The Rancho Cordova Historical Society will give you that chance today at its social event. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the society will greet members of the community at the Sheepherder Bar and Grille, while sharing their knowledge of the history of Rancho Cordova and surrounding areas.
  3. Sacramento State's Concert Choir, Chamber Choir and University Choir will continue their annual Procession of Carols today. The concert is held at the Sacred Heart Church on 39th and J Streets today at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 and students, and seniors can get in for $5. All performances are expected to sell out, so call (916) 278-4323 now to reserve your tickets.
  4. Does your teen love anime? Every Sunday, the Rancho Cordova library hosts Sakuramento Anime Sundays from 3-6 p.m.. Teens are welcome to come and watch anime and anime music videos, play collectable card games, practice anime art and make their own anime music video. Attendees are asked to enter the library through the side of the Community Room Door.
  5. Join the Sacramento Children's Chorus today at 4 p.m. for Upon a Midnight Clear, an evening of songs to celebrate the holiday season. Featuring five of the Sacramento Children's Chorus choirs, the concert will also include harpist Bev Wesner-Hoehn and her harp ensemble Celestia. The performance is held at the Carmichael Seventh Day Adventist Church. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and children.
