Bundle Up! Big Chill Hits Sacramento Region

Highs will remain in the 50s throughout the weekend.

Doesn't it seem like just yesterday we were stepping out in flip-flops and sundresses?

Fall—some might even say wintry—weather has hit the Sacramento region in earnest this week. The National Weather Service predicts highs in the 50s throughout the weekend, plummeting into the low-to-mid 30s Saturday night, with morning frost on Sunday.

"Residents should begin to take precautions to protect their plants, pets and property against near freezing temperatures," the NWS said in a special weather advisory for the area.

We could see showers and even thunderstorms Friday afternoon, with a slight chance of showers during the day Saturday, according to the NWS.

Temperatures are expected to inch up slightly into the low 60s on Monday, making the whole holiday weekend a great time to break out the hot chocolate, fuzzy slippers or whatever else helps you to feel cozy.

How are you liking the change in weather? What's your favorite way to keep warm? Tell us in the comments.

Yuck! If I wanted to feel the Fall, I'd have moved to New England. Where's my Cali weather?

I am from northern New England, this all feels like spring to me.

You still have time to plant a few bulbs to brighten your spring. Whether you get your bulbs at Capitol Nursery or at your 99Cents Store, this is an opportunity for your children (and you) to enjoy the pleasures of 'a little effort = a celebration of beauty.' Even better -- When you plant your "2012-2013 bulbs," they'll provide more pleasures for years after. A great family activity
