Apocalypse Friday: What's Your Last Meal?

The Mayan calendar says we're almost out of time. Tell us what you would eat if Friday is Doomsday.

The countdown is on to the End of Days, according to the Mayan calendar.

If erupting volcanos, solar storms or UFOs are really in the works for Friday, Dec. 21, that means diet fads are out and 4,000-calorie meals are no big deal.

What would your last meal be if you didn't have to account for whole grains and leafy greens? Gourmet at a high-end restaurant? Comfort food cooked by your mom?

Tells us about your ideal final meal in comments. Personally, I'd go for a huge bowl of fancy oven-baked mac'n'cheese with crab.

Also, post pictures, like this photo of a home-cooked meal accompanied by microbrew beer I enjoyed recently. And if you have a great End of the World recipe, share that in the comment section below.

Set the mood for your apocalyptic meal with this End of the World playlist from the Huffington Post.

I'm not really sure what my last meal will be but I can assure you that it will have absolutely nothing to do with Phil Bordeaux! BTW Phil, no need to qualify your posts as a "no-brainer". We already know that.

Well I am still waiting for the end of the world? Does anyone know what form it will take? Will we be consumed in the fires within? Will the valleys rise and the earth be rent in twain ? Will there be mighty winds that will lay low the mountains of the earth ? Is there anything we should chant when we see the sign of the mighty and manifest beast-head flying through the sky ?

"Experts say that for the Maya, all that ends in 2012 is one of their calendar cycles, not the world." from: http://www.whitewolfpack.com/2012/10/maya-demand-end-to-doomsday-myth.html :) http://www.spacestationplaza.com/images/kinserts/Bizarro2012pic.gif

Two dozen baked oysters (with chorizo, of course) from Taqueria Mundial. Or anything from the Wooden Nickel.
Bob M December 21, 2012 at 02:42 pm
@ Peter Cook, from the looks of these posts, it looks like death by overeating. One of my favorite ways to end....
Vanessa Castañeda December 21, 2012 at 03:07 pm
lol We'll find out at 10 p.m. tonight. Mayans were in the central time zone.

Two dungeness crab cakes with a lemon wedge, a glass of chilled chardonnay, a gin & tonic with lime, a green salad with miso dressing at home by the Christmas tree. (See photo above.) That makes me happy - what a way to go!
Phil Bordeaux December 21, 2012 at 03:25 pm
LMAO...as if....what a troll
Phil Bordeaux December 21, 2012 at 03:27 pm

Actually, the solstice marking the professed end of days begins at 11:11AM Friday 12/21 morning. So I'll go with a double chicken fried steak, triple sausage, quadruple bacon, a dozen whole eggs over medium and a huge stack of pancakes smothered in real butter and maple syrup. Cholesterol be danged... It's the end of the world... Enjoy!!!!
Christian Kallen December 21, 2012 at 04:12 pm
Hey, it's 11:11 on 12-21, and we're still here. What I think is remarkable is that this 3,600-year old Mayan calendar actually landed on the solstice, without leap years or extra minutes or seconds or other adjustments.
Keri Brenner December 21, 2012 at 04:26 pm
Happy Solstice to everyone! Also Happy New Era in the Mayan calendar. Time for a new start!!!
Mary Richardson December 21, 2012 at 05:03 pm
Hey, we caught the 11:11 too!!! Oh, Happy Day!
Nancy Wride December 21, 2012 at 05:15 pm
A quart of egg nog and a bag of See's California Brittle. Then, bring on dessert!
Belle (Orchid Lady) December 21, 2012 at 05:20 pm
@Christian-great point. The Mayans are said to be the best 'time keepers'. All of their calendars are more accurate then our own modern devices. Truly a great civilization.
Jeffrey Sabatini December 21, 2012 at 05:22 pm
Something to think about... This year there were 3 CMEs so large, any one would have sent us back to the 1700s. Only they all shot out the back into space. And according to http://www.spaceweather.com , a large CME is happening right now! Also ejecting away from the earth out into space. Go figure...

Stacie Chan (Editor) December 21, 2012 at 09:27 pm
Crab cakes, a spicy tuna sushi roll, peking duck, rack of lamb, my grandma's homemade potstickers, brownie a la mode with Ghiradelli hot fudge, not necessarily in that order.
Mary Richardson December 21, 2012 at 09:56 pm
We sure do know how to eat, don't we?!?!?

I was hoping that someone could point me at some high quality designer goods such as Gucci or Coach? I seem to be having trouble finding any links on it. I wonder if someone could help me, perhaps by posting some links in the post before this one?
MICHAEL P WILSON "Independent Kid" December 28, 2012 at 03:29 pm
I have a side topic to the comments. With the "Apocalypse" here and gone What's Your first Meal of 2013? Steak and eggs for me IHOP
Peter Cook December 28, 2012 at 04:14 pm
Whenever vegetarians come around to dinner, just give them steak or chicken and tell them it is quorn - they always say it tastes just the same so they will never know.
ROBERT E. FISHBACK December 28, 2012 at 04:39 pm
Above all, remember it won't matter if you can afford it...charge it...Let it all hang out.

The three people - look like they are under 20 years old and are either light skinned black - orRead More Hispanic - travel together often around Percival, Firelight and Caldera. They have also stolen a flip-phone - then asked for $20.00 when they returned it.

The Marks of this world are too blind to facts to bother arguing with. He thinks 4 generation ofRead More welfare and more people on food stamps then ever before in history is progress! What's the point acknowledging such absurd nonsense? Don't bother Roberto, complete waste of effort.
Marnix A. van Ammers May 27, 2013 at 07:21 am
Nobody likes debt or an economy that is limping along. Obama has done an admirable job consideringRead More what he's had to put up with. The deficit has been reduced considerably. Stock market is as high as ever. Unemployment is still a big problem. Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs. Our bridges are falling apart. How about we invest in fixing our crumbling infrastructure, get those people back to work, get them spending, stimulate this economy. Oh, that's right, if Obama is for it, the opposition will automatically be against it (even if it's their idea!) .
Guido Bisogno May 27, 2013 at 07:03 pm
Here we go - perfect example of a blind koolaid drinker. Listen to this: "The deficit has beenRead More reduced considerably" REALLY, then why has it doubled in the last few years? What planet are you from? "Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs." then "Obama has done an admirable job"....HELLOOOOOO! You can't have it both ways. My god we are lost if this is the mentality that is voting now - totally lost. I wish these types were routed out of the gene pool when things were tough and they would simply perish from stupidity. Now days thing are so easy they thrive and reproduce. Watch in 10 years how GREAT things are, just watch.
