Fresh & Easy Market Planned for Bradshaw Road

The store will fill a space that's been vacant for years.

A new grocery store is planned for the Rosemont area, and it will fill a storefront that's been empty for years.

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, which is owned by British retailer Tesco, will open a store at 3615 Bradshaw Rd., in a shopping center near Old Placerville Road.

Fresh & Easy officials have not responded to Rosemont Patch's requests for information on when the store will open, but Tuesday afternoon the interior of the store sat bare and largely unfinished.

Fresh & Easy, which has several other locations planned for the Sacramento area, employs about 20 to 30 workers per store and boasts on its website about low prices and store-brand natural food offerings. The company also calls itself "a good neighbor."

"Our Shop for Schools program gives back to K–8th grade schools (schools can raise $1 for every $20 spent in our stores)," the store says on its website. "We donate $1,000 to a local, nonprofit organization with each store we open."

The shopping center where it will open, dubbed Bradville Square, was recently sold by its Irvine-based owners to a Los Angeles-based limited liability company, the Sacramento Business Journal reported. The Fresh & Easy, and storefronts were not included in the deal, according to a press release.

The shopping center is currently 64 percent occupied, the press release said.

The Fresh & Easy will not fill the entire vacant storefront; about half of it is listed for lease online.

This is exciting news. That area needs some freshening up, and Rosemont could use another grocery store.

Thanks for the comment, Jessica. What do you think is missing from Save Mart and Food Source?

SaveMart needs more room for a better selection of items. I was trying a new recipe last week that called for marscapone cheese. Not the most common ingredient but not the most obscure. The staff thought I was mispronouncing "mozzerella", and I had to go to Raley's to buy it.

I am so excited! We will be shopping here as soon as they open....

I am looking forward to it too. I can tell you that Savemart needs a better staff customer relationship. I have seen and dealt with a few rude staff in the 24 years I have been shopping there. Although there are some decent staff there as well. Their pricing is really high too. I drive to Winco, for major shopping and spend half the amount for double the groceries! FOOD Source...well they leave a lot to be desired.

How do you apply? I've looked on the website and looked at the store but I cannot find any information on how to apply.

Any follow up to this? Where does the store stand in regards to an opening date?
Christopher Arns July 12, 2012 at 08:50 pm
Hi Joshua, great question...as a matter of fact, the company still doesn't have an opening date for the store. They wouldn't answer me when I asked if they are canceling the store altogether.

I've been watching the store like a hawk, waiting for progress...anything! Alas, it does not appear any work is being done to get this store opened. :(

The three people - look like they are under 20 years old and are either light skinned black - orRead More Hispanic - travel together often around Percival, Firelight and Caldera. They have also stolen a flip-phone - then asked for $20.00 when they returned it.

The Marks of this world are too blind to facts to bother arguing with. He thinks 4 generation ofRead More welfare and more people on food stamps then ever before in history is progress! What's the point acknowledging such absurd nonsense? Don't bother Roberto, complete waste of effort.

Nobody likes debt or an economy that is limping along. Obama has done an admirable job consideringRead More what he's had to put up with. The deficit has been reduced considerably. Stock market is as high as ever. Unemployment is still a big problem. Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs. Our bridges are falling apart. How about we invest in fixing our crumbling infrastructure, get those people back to work, get them spending, stimulate this economy. Oh, that's right, if Obama is for it, the opposition will automatically be against it (even if it's their idea!) .

Here we go - perfect example of a blind koolaid drinker. Listen to this: "The deficit has beenRead More reduced considerably" REALLY, then why has it doubled in the last few years? What planet are you from? "Thank God we still have food stamps to help those people who have lost their jobs." then "Obama has done an admirable job"....HELLOOOOOO! You can't have it both ways. My god we are lost if this is the mentality that is voting now - totally lost. I wish these types were routed out of the gene pool when things were tough and they would simply perish from stupidity. Now days thing are so easy they thrive and reproduce. Watch in 10 years how GREAT things are, just watch.
