Video: Longtime Rosemont Resident to Walk for SPCA Donations

This animal lover is participating in the Sacramento SPCA's charity walk in June.

It's safe to say Rosemont resident Melissa Roberts has a thing for animals. She's worked for at least two animal shelters, temporarily houses animals when they're too young to be adopted, has posted more than 20 videos on YouTube showing tricks she's taught to her Rat Terrier, and even has a pet tortoise.

This summer, Roberts and her husband will be participating in the Sacramento SPCA's "Doggy Dash" with their dog, Teri. The Doggy Dash is 5k walk fundraiser, and Roberts is hoping to raise $2,000 in donations for the shelter.

"My husband and I are avid supporters of the Sacramento SPCA (my former employer)," Roberts said in an email.  "Since my employment there, we have stayed connected to the organization and have remained foster parents for sick, injured or young animals who need time to mature and rehabilitate in a home before adoption is possible."
