Enjoy the sunny clear skies while you can, because wet and windy weather appears to be making its way to the Sacramento region.
Starting Thursday night and forecast to last through Monday, the area will be hit with a series of storm systems, according to the National Weather Service. The anticipated weather has prompted the agency to issue a special weather statement, warning people of possible flooding, winter driving conditions and falling tree branches.
While precipitation is expected to hit Thursday night, the most rain and strongest winds are forecast for Sunday and Monday. It's still too early to accurately predict precipitation amounts, "but around 2 inches are possible in the valley with several feet of snow possible over the highest elevation through Monday," the NWS stated.
Outdoor adventurers should be alert for the changing weather conditions toward the end of the week, the NWS stated, and drivers should allow extra travel time due to wet and slick roads and winter driving conditions.
"Fallen leaves may clog drains, which could lead to localized flooding," The NWS stated. "Periods of moderate precipitation, along with breezy winds, may bring down small tree branches and weakened trees, possibly leading to local power outages."
So make sure you've got candles and working flashlights, this weekend could be a rager.
