Shelter Will Hold Fundraiser for Furry Friends

Annual 'Whiskers and Wine' event to be held Sept. 15 in Rosemont.

The is hosting its annual Whiskers and Wine fundraiser Sept. 15, an all-human event to benefit four-legged friends.

Also included in the event is a for the shelter's food pantry. "People in our community who are having a hard time feeding their four-legged family members can come to the shelter and pick up food for their pets at no cost," a news release stated. The shelter accepts any can or sealed bag of pet food, and you'll receive a raffle ticket for the donation.

The third annual event will include a grilled dinner by Chops Restaurant and music by the Beth Duncan Jazz trio. There will also be a live auction run by David Sobon Auctioneer, a silent auction, raffle prizes, beer and wine tasting and dessert. One of the prizes is a 10-day-cruise to Alaska, which was donated by Zoe's Cruises and Tours.

Special guest Jack Sellars – a race car driver – will be there signing autographs and speaking on his efforts to help abused animals.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door and can be purchased at the Critter Outfitter store inside the shelter, as well as on the shelter's website. Tickets can also be purchased at any VCAAnimal Hospital and all Western Feed and Pet Supply stores throughout Sacramento before Sept. 12.

The Sept. 15 event is from 6 p.m. To 10 p.m. at the shelter. Though the fundraiser is a benefit for furry friends, they aren't welcome to the "all-human event."
