Sept. 9: Senior Sunrise, Playful Pals, More

Get on your feet and do a happy dance—it’s Friday! Do you have any big weekend plans? Will you be checking out the airshow this weekend? If you’re looking to start the weekend early, there’s plenty of things to enjoy in the area today. RHS seniors can enjoy a delicious breakfast at the school, you can catch some of the action at a high school sports game, find a new furry friend, find a fun way for your preschooler to learn or check out a farmers’ market downtown.

1. It’s all about the seniors today at . All seniors are invited to wake up a bit earlier for a special breakfast just for them at 6:30 a.m.! With muffins, donuts, hot chocolate and juice, it’s the perfect way for seniors to get back into the school year—with a full belly!
2. Speaking of Rosemont High, you can catch a couple of games today, both at home and away! The boys soccer team will host Pleasant Grove High today at 4 p.m., while the football team will hit the road to face off against Pioneer High in Woodland at 5 p.m.
3. Looking to add a new bundle of fur to your family? The Sacramento County Animal Shelter has a deal for you! From now until the end of the month, you can adopt an adult cat that has been at the shelter for more than 30 days for just $40. Looking for a younger friend? Kittens are twice as fun with a two for one adoption special!
4. Looking for something fun for your preschooler to do while you run errands? Sign him or her up for Discovery Kids! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the Cordova Recreation and Park District will teach kids from 3 to 6 years old about cooking, science, 3D art, music and more in a fun and interactive way! Classes run from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and are $45 per week, or $36 per week if you sign up for three or more weeks. 
5. Head downtown today for some fresh fruit, veggies and more! The Downtown Sacramento Partnership will be holding a Farmers’ Market today from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Park. Find that perfect summer fruit, get some flowers for someone you love, or try out some delicious local cheeses.
