Sept. 7: Rosemont Volleyball Face-Off, Discovery Kids, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Happy Wednesday, Rosemont! Looking for something to do? Maybe you want to catch a high school sports game, find some positive activities for you and your family, enjoy a free meal or treat your preschooler to a day of fun and learning. We’ve got all that going on today in the Rosemont area! So read on to find something fun to do today!

  1. The Cougar Classic continues today at . The boys varsity soccer team will be hosting another visiting team tonight at 6 p.m. Please contact the school at 916-856-5600 for more information and to find out who will be competing tonight.
  2. It’s the battle of the Rosemont girls volleyball teams tonight! That’s right, and Capital Christian will go head-to-head tonight at RHS. The games begin at 4:30 p.m. with the freshmen volleyball teams, with junior varsity hitting the court at 5:30 p.m. and varsity ending the night with a game at 6 p.m. So head out and cheer for your favorite Rosemont team!
  3. There's a multitude of positive activities for you and your family to enjoy at . The center will be offering a GriefShare Ministry to help you deal with the death of a loved one at 7 p.m., a 6:13 Wednesday night prayer to focus on the Ephesians 6:13 verse at (you guessed it!) 6:13 p.m., an adult Bible study group at 7:15 p.m. and many programs centered toward your children, from kindergarten students to teenagers. Check out the church's calendar for more information. 
  4. Don't have the money to go out tonight? Head over to  today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a free dinner. The dinner is open to everyone, even if you just want to have a nice meal with others. The church offers free dinners every Wednesday, followed by fun activities for all ages.
  5. Looking for something fun for your preschooler to do while you run errands? Sign him or her up for Discovery Kids! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the Cordova Recreation and Park District will teach kids from 3 to 6 years old about cooking, science, 3D art, music and more in a fun and interactive way! Classes run from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and are $45 per week, or $36 per week if you sign up for three or more weeks.
