Sept. 21: Chess Whiz Kids, Night of Volleyball, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Happy Wednesday, Rosemont! Looking for a fun way to spend  your day? Check out one of the five things we’ve got going on today—college-bound RHS students can get some more info about University of the Pacific, you can check out volleyball games at both of our local high schools, Capital Christian Center is offering plenty of fun and free activities and the Rancho Cordova Library wants to challenge your kid to a game of chess!

  1. Seniors at can get a glimpse into another college today. Counselors from University of the Pacific will be on hand at 10 a.m. to talk to interested students about options at that college. All interested students can sign up in the counseling office to attend.
  2. While we’re on the subject of Rosemont High, the Lady Wolverines will be hitting the volleyball court today. That’s right, the girls volleyball team will host Valley High School today at 6 p.m.
  3. And speaking of volleyball, will also put up the nets. The girls volleyball team will hit their home court to battle it out against Mesa Verde High at 6:30 p.m.
  4. There's a multitude of positive activities for you and your family to enjoy at . The center will be offering a GriefShare Ministry to help you deal with the death of a loved one at 7 p.m., a 6:13 Wednesday night prayer to focus on the Ephesians 6:13 verse at (you guessed it!) 6:13 p.m., an adult Bible study group at 7:15 p.m. and many programs centered toward your children, from kindergarten students to teenagers. Check out the church's calendar for more information.
  5. Do you have a chess whiz in your house? Take him or her to the  today for their Kid’s Chess Club! Beginning at 4 p.m., kids will have the chance to play with others in their skill level on one of the library’s many chess tables. Or they can just watch from the sidelines and learn more about the game from those playing.
