Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Happy Friday, Rosemont! Our first week of October was a little wet, but don’t worry, this weekend promises to be warm and sunny. So make sure you get out there and enjoy it—while we still have sunshine left! Today, you can hit the road with one of Rosemont’s high school football teams, listen to some live tunes, drop your preschooler off for an afternoon of fun and interaction, get some gardening tips from other green thumbs or get the pants scared off you tonight!

  1. It’s time for some Friday night football…just not in Rosemont. The Wolverines were scheduled to play Saturday, but the Lions will forfeit because of a recent on-field fight. If you’re up for a road trip, the Capital Christian Cougars will head out to Marysville High today. The junior varsity team will hit the field at 5:30 p.m. with varsity ending the night with a 7:30 p.m. game.
  2. Don’t forget about another Friday night Rosemont tradition! That’s right,  is offering its weekly live music. Both today and tomorrow, the eatery will host a variety of bands and musicians to entertain you while you eat. The music starts 6 p.m.
  3. Looking for something fun for your preschooler to do while you run errands? Sign him or her up for Discovery Kids! Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the Cordova Recreation and Park District will teach kids from 3 to 6 years old about cooking, science, 3D art, music and more in a fun and interactive way! 4. Get some tips and tricks for fall gardening at the ! The Garden Club will meet today at 1 p.m. to discuss what can be done in gardens now, share information or just relax and take and take an armchair garden tour.
  5. Get into the Halloween spirit at the Haunted Hagan Screampark! Every year, ghosts and ghouls take over Hagan Community Park to create a scary night for all who dare to enter. Visitors can test their bravery by walking through the haunted forest before taking a spooky train ride back into the old west. Tickets cost $20 and the night of horrors opens at 7 p.m.
