Celebrate your inner geek today in honor of Geek Pride Day! Maybe you’re a theater geek and want to check out a play at Rosemont High School. If you’re a movie geek, then the Arden-Dimick Library has a free movie showing for you to check out. For the rest of us, geeks or not, there’s a free dinner at Cordova Church of the Nazarene, Whisker Wednesday at the animal shelter and story times for your geeks-in-training!

  1. It’s your last chance to visit Never Never Land at . The school’s Creative and Performing Arts academy will present classic play “Peter Pan” today and tomorrow. Directed by Ruth C. Sosa and performed by high school and elementary school students in the Rosemont community, the performance is sure to bring you back to childhood! For times and ticket information, contact the school at 916-228-5844.
  2. Don’t have the money to go out tonight? Head over to  today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a free dinner. The dinner is open to everyone, even if you just want to have a nice meal with others. The church offers free dinners every Wednesday, followed by fun activities for all ages.
  3. Looking to add a purring pal to your family? Head over to the today for its “Whisker Wednesdays and Weekends” special. From now through May 29, all whiskered animals—including cats, dogs and rabbits—are half off on, you guessed it, Wednesdays and weekends. Rescue a shelter animal today and bring a new addition to your family!
  4. Are you mad for movies? Crazy for cinema? Visit the Arden-Dimick Library today for its Wednesday Movie Madness! Catch the family flick "Cats and Dogs: the Revenge of Kitty Galore," the sequel to "Cats and Dogs," at 6 p.m. And what’s a movie without refreshments? The library will be providing snacks and drinks, too, all for the low price of free!
  5. Spark your baby’s love for reading early with Rancho Cordova Library’s Baby and Me Storytime. Featuring rhymes, stories and sons for babies 6 to 24 months old, the story time will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. If your wee one is 3 to 5 years old, there’s a story time for him or her, too! From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., bring your toddler down for stories, songs and crafts.
