May 24: Middle School Grad Lunch, Food Basket, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Today is the beginning of the two-day National Geographic Bee finals! Good luck to all the finalists who have already come so far. Take some time out of your day to brush up on your geography skills—you can even take National Geographic’s quiz here! What’s going in Rosemont today? The eighth grade students at Capital Christian will hold their graduation luncheon, Atonement Lutheran Church will be handing out free groceries to those in need, Friendship Missionary invites women to a weekly ladies Bible study, Strings Pizzeria will host a variety of bands at open mic night and the Arden-Dimick Library wants teens to make some origami creations!

  1. Congratulations to all the soon-to-be graduates out there! For ’s eighth-grade students, the graduation is coming up fast! Today, the school will hold a special luncheon and practice ceremony for the students and their families from noon to 2:30 p.m.
  2. Times can be tough these days, and  wants to help those who may need a little help making ends meet. Every fourth Tuesday of the month, the church partners with the Sacramento Downtown Food Basket to give some groceries to those in need. If you feel that you could use the extra help in keeping your grocery costs down, visit the church between 8 a.m. and noon to get your free basket of groceries.
  3. Ladies, if you’re looking an afternoon of religious study and companionship, look no further than . The church holds a Ladies Bible Study every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and all women are welcome to attend.
  4.  will hold an open mic night tonight. If you have a band that would like to play, or if you just want to see some new music live, go check out the pizza place from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The open mic night is held every Tuesday night.
  5. Teens, are you interested in all things Japanese? Head to the Arden-Dimick Library today from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to try your hand at origami! From animals to monsters, you can make a variety of paper creatures from the library’s selection of more than 500 patterns.
