May 19: Track Meet, Hawaiian Dances, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Good news, Rosemont! It looks like the clouds have gone away (for now, at least) and the sun is back out. Celebrate the warmer weather with Capital Christian’s track team, Rosemont High’s Creative and Performing Arts Academy, Sacramento City Unified School District’s Board of Education, the Ohana Dance Group or Rancho Cordova Library’s own writing group.

  1. ’s track and field team will be headed to Modesto Junior College today for the Division III meet. For more information about the team’s opponent and start time, please contact the school at 916-856-5600.
  2. Visit Never Never Land today at . The school’s Creative and Performing Arts Academy will present the classic play “Peter Pan” through May 20 and May 25-26. Directed by Ruth C. Sosa and performed by high school and elementary school students in the Rosemont community, the performance is sure to bring you back to childhood!   3. Let your voice be heard at the Sacramento City Unified School District’s Board of Education meeting today! Open session for the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and residents are encouraged to speak their mind about issues they’ve found in the schools. Click here for more details on the meeting, including an agenda. You can also find a live video broadcast of the meeting if you are unable to make it but still want to see what your Board of Education is up to.
  4. Need some more culture in your life? Head to the Arden-Dimick Library today at 4 p.m. for a performace of traditional Hawaiian dance and music. The Ohana Dance Group will tell the story of each song before showing off their dance moves and encouraging the audience to join in.
  5. Are you a budding writer? Check out the Rancho Cordova Library’s Writing Group! Meeting every third Thursday of the month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the group aims to help new writers get started by providing feedback, advice and gentle pushes to perfect your craft.
