March 24: Open House, Epic Life, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Are you tired of the rain yet? Well, keep your fingers crossed, because it’s expected to stay away for a couple of days at the beginning of next week. Until then, keep the rainy day blues away with a free GED preparation class, a positive religious group for young adults, a tennis match, an open house and a mobile pet adoption tour.

  1. wants to help you prepare for that dreaded GED. Visit the school today at 6 p.m. for a free GED preparation class. The class runs every Tuesday and Thursday until June.   2. Are you a young adult (around the ages of 18 through 30) looking for a positive religious influence in your life? Join ’s Epic Life community today at 7 p.m. for an evening of music, faith and community.
  3. While ’s swimming, soccer, baseball and softball teams will be hitting the road today, there’s one home game you can see! The boys varsity tennis team will hit the court today at 4 p.m. to play against Luther Burbank High School. Come out to support your Wolverines!
  4. Want to learn more about what your child could learn at ? Check out their open house today. The evening will begin with an all-school meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s performing arts multipurpose room. Afterwards, parents are welcome to see individual classrooms and learn what Capital Christian is all about. A silent auction will also be held, with a viewing of the items—including San Francisco Giants tickets, airline tickets, an autographed San Jose Sharks jersey and more—at 6 p.m. The auction will be held at 7:30 p.m., with proceeds going to help the school send 55 students on a mission trip to Jamaica.
  5. The parking lot of the Sacramento County Animal Shelter will go to the dogs (and cats!) today for the Tour for Life mobile pet adoption! Sponsored by the , the City of Sacramento Animal Services Division, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary, Chako Pit Bull Rescue and many other rescue organization, the event will allow you to learn about the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership—and find your new furry friend! Adoptable pets will be on display from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Tour for Life bus at the Sacramento County Animal Shelter, 3839 Bradshaw Rd. This event was previously scheduled to be held at Cesar Chavez Park, but was moved because of rain.
