March 2: Pizza, Scholarship Donations, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Don’t forget your umbrella when you head out today, as it promises to be a wet Wednesday. But you can’t let that stop you from enjoying the things Rosemont has to offer today! You can help out a graduating Rosemont High School student win a scholarship (and get a free pizza for yourself), learn a new (sign) language or take your tots out for some story time.

  1. The is still accepting scholarship donations. Every year, the association awards $1,000 to a Rosemont High School graduating senior. The money is placed in the account at the college the student chooses to attend. Donations are tax-deductible and can be sent to either the Rosemont Community Association or the Rosemont Community Foundation. For more information on how you can help a deserving student get a little extra help when he or she starts college, click here.
  2. Don’t forget that there’s another way to support the RCA—and get a free medium pepperoni pizza! From now until March 15, you can get a free pizza at just by donating $3 or more to the RCA’s scholarship fund. Click here to download the coupon and treat your family to some pizza tonight!
  3. Have you ever wanted to learn to sign? Well, now’s your chance! Every Wednesday, the Sacramento City Unified School District holds a sign language class for all ages. The class will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will be held in the parent resource center at the Serna Center, located on 5735 47th Ave. Space is limited, so make sure you get there early!
  4. Visit the Rancho Cordova Library today from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for Baby and Me Storytime. The half-hour of rhymes, songs and books are aimed at helping babies build language skills. The library also offers a story time for toddlers aged 3 to 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Both programs run every Wednesday.

Correction: An earlier version of this story listed an incorrect date for an Albert Einstein Middle School Parent-Teacher-Association meeting. The meeting was held Tuesday night. Rosemont Patch regrets the error.
