Have any used books or musical instruments you'd like to donate?
Sacramento County's Juvenile Hall opened a new library on June 5 and is asking the community for support. The youth detention facility needs donated materials to fill the new space.
The library, which is located in an unused classroom and currently has about 3,000 titles on hand, needs books for ages 11 to 17 and is also asking for used band instruments to start a music program.
Mike Shores, head of Institutional Services, hopes the library promotes reading, improved literacy and provides youth at the hall with resources to prepare them for their release.
"Many of our youth have never been to a library or had so many choices of books to read," said Shores.
