Good morning, Rosemont! I hope you’ve enjoyed your beautiful sunny weekend because, unfortunately, it’s back to the grindstone today. But you can still enjoy the day after work, with an ice cream social for a retiring teacher, an orientation about adoption, an embroidered postcard class and a lesson on quilts and how they’re made.

  1. is saying goodbye to a beloved teacher today. The students will be holding an ice cream social retirement party for Mr. Heater from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Erlewine Elementary School’s cafeteria, 2441 Stansberry Way. If you want to say goodbye, bring some ice cream toppings and some memories to help build pages for the teacher’s memory book.
  2. Are you considering adoption? Visit today at 6 p.m. for their monthly adoption orientation. You’ll learn about the steps you’ll need to take to adopt, how many children are awaiting a family and the resources available to you should you decide to adopt.
  3. Looking for a new twist for your wedding or party invitations? Try embroidered postcards! The Arden-Dimick Library will be holding a workshop today at 6:30 p.m. to help you learn how to embroider postcards to make creative and fun invitations, announcements and more! Materials will be provided, so all you have to bring is your creativity!
  4. Have you ever wondered how those beautiful and complex quilts your grandma made were constructed? Visit the Rancho Cordova Library today to learn a bit more about quilting. From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., local quilter Donna Hussain will talk about how quilts are made, the different styles of quilts and show examples of some of the quilts she’s made.
