July 7: Work for Veggies, Family Bike Night, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

It’s Thursday already, Rosemont—this week seems to be flying by fast! Did you know that the National Confectioners Association has deemed today Chocolate Day? Sounds like a good excuse to enjoy your favorite chocolate treat! If you need to work off all that sugar, you can take the family out for an evening bike ride or do some work in the Sequoia Community Garden. If you’d like to be more involved in the community, don’t miss the RCA’s monthly board meeting. Finally, if your kids are interested in how other cultures celebrate, take them to the Rancho Cordova Library for some fun information about birthdays in other countries.

  1. Learn how you can get involved in the community today at the ’s monthly board meeting. Members of the community are welcome to attend to see what the RCA is all about and add their two cents to issues affecting the Rosemont area. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at .
  2. It’s time for the volunteers of ’s community garden to enjoy the fruits of their labor! The garden team will celebrate their first work party this evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come out to lend a hand and get rewarded with some veggies and herbs!
  3. Looking to get a little exercise with the family? Visit  this evening from 5:30 to 8. The safety center will be holding Family Bike Nights every Thursday evening this summer, so there’s plenty of chances to enjoy a safe bike ride on a cool summer evening.
  4. Are you a 20-something looking for a positive influence in your life?  has something for you! The center hosts a community of young adults who hope to inspire and bring faith with music and message. Epic Life meets every Thursday night at 7 in the church’s Performing Arts Center.
  5. Do your kids need some culture in their lives? Why not make it fun? The will be teaching kids about birthdays from around the world today from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Learn how birthday pie takes the cake in Russia and how Mexico celebrates with piñatas. Who knows, maybe your kids will want a multi-cultural celebration for their next birthday!
