July 12: Rotary Breakfast, Poker Tournament, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Happy Tuesday, Rosemont! I hope the work week is coming along nicely in this warm July weather. There are a lot of things to find today in the Rancho Cordova area. From job search help at the library to an evening of poker and wine tasting, our neighbors have plenty to offer! If you want to stay in the Rosemont area, check out Bible study at Friendship Church or a night of amateur talent at Strings.

  1. Ladies, if you’re looking an afternoon of religious study and companionship, look no further than . The church holds a Ladies Bible Study every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and all women are welcome to attend.
  2. Are you a great singer? Have a band? Or do you have some strange talent that you want to showcase? Check out  from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for its weekly open mic night. Don’t want to be on stage? Come anyway, and see what kind of talent Rosemont has to offer!
  3. Enjoy breakfast this morning with the Rotary Club of Rancho Cordova Sunrise. The club meets every Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Cordova Restaurant and Casino, 2801 Prospect Park Drive. It welcomes all guests to have some good food and learn more about what the Rotary Club is all about.
  4. Having trouble finding that perfect job? The  has many resources for you to utilize. Stop by the library today from noon to 2 p.m. for some one-on-one help. Volunteers at the library will help you discover and use the library's free job search tool, JobNow, as well as answer your questions and help you make your résumé shine.
  5. Are you a poker champ? Never played before? Either way, Cordova Restaurant Casino, 2801 Prospect Park Drive, wants to see you in this poker tournament! Wine tasting and lessons will be provided before the tournament, which offers a cash prize to the first, second and third place winners! The wine will be corked at 4:30 p.m., lessons will start at 6 p.m. and the poker begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. The buy in for the tournament is $50.
