How to See the Space Shuttle Endeavour from Rosemont Friday

The NASA space shuttle will do a flyover of the Sacramento and Elk Grove areas Friday morning.

Rosemont residents may get a glimpse of something historic during their Friday morning commute.

The Space Shuttle Endeavour, which flew 25 missions to space between 1992 and 2011, will fly low over the Sacramento area on its way to a new home on display at the California Science Center in Los Angeles.

The shuttle is expected to be in the Sacramento area around 9:30 a.m. Friday; NASA officials Thursday announced a one-hour delay in its departure due to weather conditions.

Lisa Lockyer, a NASA staffer based at the agency's Moffett Field Ames Research Center, detailed the tentative flight plan:

Space Shuttle Endeavour, on top of its 747 Carrier Aircraft, will be approaching Sacramento from the south, heading north, just west of Interstate 5 near Elk Grove.

The Shuttle and 747 will then fly near the State Capitol building over downtown.  It will continue north between Sacramento International Airport and McClellan AFB before turning east near Roseville, then southwest.

It will then cross midtown Sacramento near the Oak Park area before proceeding South[west] towards San Francisco.

Twitter users are encouraged to post photos of the shuttle using the hashtags  #spottheshuttle and #OV105. Don't forget to post them here on Patch, as well.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Endeavour had landed in Houston.

Roberto, Looks like the discourse is losing steam. There's an article in today's Bee by PaulRead More Krugman (Nobel Prize winner for economics) titled "Austerity policy creating long-term unemployment." I'd be interested in your thoughts on Krugman's take on the debt issue you raised days ago.

Now, now Mark, no need to get personal. Tom brings some important facts to the table. Our nation'sRead More spending is uncontrolled in almost every area including defense. We're not managing our spending and revenue is in the toilet. If the administration continues at this pace, they'll be going to Mexico for our next loan.
