Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Here’s to another sweet day, Rosemont—the National Confectioner’s Association has named today Chocolate Chip Day! Sounds like the perfect time to make some chocolate chip cookies with the kids before taking them out for one of the many family-centered activities going on today. Check out Family Bike Night, take your tot to a play group, let your kids make crafts from around the world or design their own treasure map. And if you need some time away from the little ones, head to the RCA’s monthly board meeting to help them improve the community.

  1. Looking to get a little exercise with the family? Visit  this evening from 5:30 to 8. The safety center will be holding Family Bike Nights every Thursday evening this summer, so there’s plenty of chances to enjoy a safe bike ride on a cool summer evening.
  2. Become more involved with the Rosemont community, simply by attending the ’s board meeting. The public is always welcome to attend and share ideas during each monthly meeting. Today’s meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at , so get out there and see what your community association is up to!
  3. Get your toddler out of the house and into the Riverview Community Center, 10700 Ambassador Dr. in Rancho Cordova. The class ends the day with songs and group play. The play group costs $22 to join, and is good for five classes over the length of the program.
  4. Do you have some crafty kids? Let them craft internationally! The will be hosting a Crafts Around the World program today as a part of their summer reading program. Children will learn how to make Chinese puzzles, Mexican banners, Japanese wind socks and more! The crafts begin at 2 p.m. and the program is free.
  5. Arrrr! It’s time to think like a pirate at Arcade Library and find the buried treasure! Create a fun treasure map with your family today at 3 p.m. using real quills and ink. Who knows, maybe your map will lead to some buried treasure in your own backyard!
