Aug. 30: (Belly) Dance the Night Away, Catch a Game, More

Good morning, Rosemont! Looking for some fun today? Look no further—there’s plenty of new and exciting things to do in Rosemont today! You can check out a volleyball or soccer game, take your middle school student to an orientation, meet your kindergartner’s teacher at Sequoia, get your belly dance on, or check out some local talent.

1. Our Cougars will be very busy today! The girls freshman and junior varsity volleyball teams will hit the road to take on Forest Lake Christian High in Auburn at 5 p.m. At the same time, you can catch the boys junior varsity and varsity soccer teams as they take on Cristo Rey High at home.
2. School hasn’t started yet for students, so make sure your student starts the year right by attending the school’s orientation today. New students and their families are invited to learn a little more about the school’s campus. All families can also use this time to pick up schedules, turn in immunization records, buy PE clothes and more. Orientation runs from 9 to 11 a.m. for students with last names from A to L, and 1 to 3 p.m. for M to Z.
3. Has your child just started kindergarten at ? Come out tonight for the kindergarten’s back to school night! You can meet the teacher, find out what your child will learn this year and sign up to join the PTA. The night will begin at 6:30 p.m.
4. Want to learn a new dance? How about belly dancing? The Cordova Recreation and Park District will be holding a belly dancing class for ages 14 and up today at . The class starts at 6 p.m. and costs $10 per class, so grab your teen and your spouse and head out for a night of belly dancing!
5. Are you a great singer? Have a band? Or do you have some strange talent that you want to showcase? Check out  from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for its weekly open mic night. Don’t want to be on stage? Come anyway, and see what kind of talent Rosemont has to offer!
