Aug. 23: Talent Showcase, Get Your Game On, More

Good morning, Rosemont! It’s Tuesday, and that means that the hardest part of the week, better known as Monday, is now behind us. If you’re looking for something to do today, don’t fret! We’ve got a list of five very different things, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy! There’s an afternoon Bible study for women, an open mic night for those that want to check out some new talent, job search help for the unemployed, playtime for toddlers and Wii gaming for teens!

1. Ladies, if you’re looking an afternoon of religious study and companionship, look no further than . The church holds a Ladies Bible Study every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and all women are welcome to attend.
2. Are you a great singer? Have a band? Or do you have some strange talent that you want to showcase? Check out  from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. for its weekly open mic night. Don’t want to be on stage? Come anyway, and see what kind of talent Rosemont has to offer!
3. Having trouble finding that perfect job? The  has many resources for you to utilize. Stop by the library today from 10 a.m. to noon for some one-on-one help. Volunteers at the library will help you discover and use the library’s free job search tool, JobNow, as well as answer your questions and help you make your résumé shine.
4. Get your toddler out of the house and into the Riverview Community Center at 10700 Ambassador Dr. in Rancho Cordova. The Cordova Recreation and Park District holds a Tiny Tot Play Group every Thursday and Friday from 10-11 a.m., where your child from 12 to 36 months old can learn about sharing and can develop social skills by playing independently or with you at their activity table. The class ends the day with songs and group play. The play group costs $22 to join, and is good for five classes over the length of the program. 
5. Hey, teens! Looking for a fun way to spend your afternoon? Gather up your friends and head to the to play some Wii games! Enjoy snacks while you play one of the library’s many games, like Rock Band and Just Dance 2. The games begin at 3:30 p.m. and run until 5:30.
