Aug. 19: Back to School Shopping Spree, Matinee Movie Madness, More

Happy Friday, Rosemont! Looking for a way to celebrate the weekend? Look no further! Today, you can get some discounted school supplies for your Golden Empire student, jam out to some live music, send your teen to the library to see a free movie, have a barbecue lunch and vote to help one of our local parks!

  1. Does your student still need some supplies for school? Head to the Office Max at Power Inn Road and Folsom Boulevard tonight at 6 for a special back-to-school shopping experience for Golden Empire students and parents! The store is lowering their prices for three hours this evening, just for students of the school. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to the school, as well!
  2. It’s Friday night, and you know what that means! That’s right,  is offering its weekly live music. Both today and tomorrow, the eatery will host a variety of bands and musicians to entertain you while you eat. The music starts 6 p.m.
  3. Hey, teens! Looking for a fun way to beat the heat? Visit the for a free matinee movie! At 1 p.m., the library will provide a PG-13 rated flick and snacks.
  4. Get some good eats for lunch at the Cordova Senior Activities Center! The center will be celebrating the end of the summer at the Lazy Crazy Hazy Days of Summer barbecue. The barbecue runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and only costs $5 for members and $7 for non-members.
  5. The Cordova Recreation and Park District needs your help to improve their parks! Two area parks are currently in the running to win a $100,000 grant from Coca Cola in the America is Your Park Campaign. Votes must be cast by Sept. 6, so click here and cast your vote today!
