Aug. 18: Lunchtime Sampler, Back to School Night, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Good morning, Rosemont! The weekend is drawing near, but why wait until then to have fun? There’s plenty of things for you to enjoy today in the area. Capital Christian’s middle and high schools will be celebrating Back to School Night, Safetyville invites you and your family out for a bike ride, our neighborhood libraries are offering up some fun for writers and LEGO maniacs and Rancho Cordova’s Chamber is giving you a chance to have lunch for free!

  1. Start the school year off right with a fun Back to School Night at , starting at 6:30 p.m. The middle and high school students are invited to bring their families to campus to meet the teachers and say hi to friends that they may have missed over the summer. The middle school students will meet at the middle school, while the high school students will head to the high school's multipurpose room.
  2. Looking to get a little exercise with the family? Visit  this evening from 5:30 - 8. The safety center will be holding Family Bike Nights every Thursday evening this summer, so there are plenty of chances to enjoy a safe bike ride on a cool summer evening.
  3. Are you a budding writer? Check out the Rancho Cordova Library’s Writing Group! Meeting every third Thursday of the month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the group aims to help new writers get started by providing feedback, advice and gentle pushes to perfect your craft. 
  4. Is your kid a miniature architect? Take him or her to the today for some LEGO fun! Bricks4Kidz will be on hand at 4 p.m. to demonstrate some building techniques. Afterwards, kids will have the chance to use their own ideas to build fun and unique Lego masterpieces!
  5. Join the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce for the Rancho Cordova Exchange today! Dubbed “A Business to Community Expo,” it gives members of the community a chance to sample free food from local restaurants.  The expo will run at Rancho Cordova City Hall today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—perfect for a little lunchtime sampling!
