Aug. 10: Splash in the Pool, Impress Your French Teacher, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Good morning, Rosemont! As the days fly by, the school year draws closer. Help the little ones make them most of the last of their summer by enjoying one of the many things the Rosemont area has to offer! There’s always something going on at our neighboring libraries—including a way for the French students to brush up on their speaking skills before the start of school and a book club for teens—and Capital Christian Center has many programs catered towards every age group. If your kids would prefer to have a splashin’ good time, take them over to Rosemont High for the public swim sessions. After their swim, you can take the family to Cordova Church of the Nazarene for dinner—free!

  1. There's a multitude of positive activities for you and your family to enjoy at . The center will be offering a GriefShare Ministry to help you deal with the death of a loved one at 7 p.m., a 6:13 Wednesday night prayer to focus on the Ephesians 6:13 verse at (you guessed it!) 6:13 p.m., an adult Bible study group at 7:15 p.m. and many programs centered toward your children, from kindergarten students to teenagers. Check out the church's calendar for more information.
  2. There are only a few more days left for you to enjoy ’s public swim sessions. You and your family can enjoy a swim in the school's pool from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is just $2 per per person, per visit, and if you're going to frequent the pool you can get a 10-punch card for $15. Public swim sessions end on Aug. 12, so get out there and beat the heat before it’s too late!
  3. Don't have the money to go out tonight? Head over to  today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a free dinner. The dinner is open to everyone, even if you just want to have a nice meal with others. The church offers free dinners every Wednesday, followed by fun activities for all ages.
  4. Are you learning French? Want to brush up on your skills? Visit the Rancho Cordova Library today from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for its Library French Connection. The group will meet to practice speaking and reading French and native French speakers are encouraged to come out and help.
  5. Hey teens! Need a little culture in your life? Want to learn more about far-off places? The  will hold their Summer Book Club for Teens and the theme this summer is—you guessed it—world cultures and travel. Visit the library today at 3 p.m. to learn more about the book club and find out how you can be a part of it!
