Aug. 1: Splash in the Pool, Chat Over Knitting, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

We’re heading back into the work week today—I know, kind of a bummer, but it’s still possible to enjoy Monday! You can head to the pool with the kids, get into some knitting with fellow crafters or let your child read to a canine companion. And while you’re having fun, don’t forget to check up on the latest news affecting Rosemont by learning about the changes in Waste Management and checking out our Week in Review.

  1. Beginning this week, Sacramento County Waste Management will combine its collection routes to save money. What does that mean to you? Collection days are changing for many customers because of the switch. Read more about it in and let us know what you think about the changes.
  2. Pack up the kids and the sunscreen and head to  today for the Cordova Recreation and Park District's public swim session. From now until August 12, the public is invited to swim in the school's pool from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is just $2 per per person, per visit, and if you're going to frequent the pool you can get a 10-punch card for $15, so head to Rosemont High and beat the heat!
  3. There was a lot going on in Rosemont last week. Did you miss something? Check out our  feature to catch up on all the news from last week. From the donation of books to juvenile hall to the proposed marijuana dispensary ordinance, make sure you know the latest news affecting Rosemont.
  4. Want a little company to go with your knitting? Head to the Arden-Dimick Library today from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for its Knitting and Nattering group. Share your tips with others and learn a few new tricks. All skill levels and ages are welcome.
  5. Does your child struggle with reading? Take him or her to the Rancho Cordova Library today from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for a unique reading program aimed to help kids build reading skills. Reading with the Dogs allows kids to read aloud to some new furry friends from the Lend a Heart Association.
