April 22: Good Friday, Earth Day, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Today is both Earth Day and Good Friday! No matter which one you plan to observe, we’ve got something for you to do! For Good Friday, check out the special service and Easter concert going on at Capital Christian. But if you’d prefer to take in some greenery for Earth Day, Effie Yeaw Nature Center invites you to take a tour through one of its many trails. If you’re not sure which one you’d rather observe, but would still like to have fun, you can build with some LEGOs at the library, check out some live music at Strings or plan your weekend with our (aptly named) Weekend Planner.

  1. Head over to today at 12:15 p.m. for a special Good Friday service. If you can’t make it for their lunchtime service, you’re in luck! The Christian center will also be holding a free Easter concert starting tonight at 7:30 p.m. featuring 100 choir members from Capital Choir, a 40-piece orchestra and more!
  2. Start the weekend off with some music and pizza! will host bands and singers alike for live music tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Come out to enjoy some music with your dinner.
  3. Bring your whole family to the Rancho Cordova Library for LEGO mania! The library will provide the LEGOs for kids of all ages (even dad!) to make crazy castles, strange inventions and whatever else the imagination can cook up. LEGOs will be available today from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  4. Looking for a fun way to spend your Easter weekend? Check out our —it’s full of things for you and your family to enjoy this weekend! From a Spring Extravaganza to a Spanish conversation circle, there’s something for everybody.
  5. Celebrate Earth Day by taking a walk on the wild side! Effie Yeaw Nature Center offers nature walks for the whole family from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Participants get to meet one of the Nature Center’s animals before taking an hour-long walk through the center’s trails. Tickets for the nature walk are $3.
