Would-Be Car Buyer Robbed at Gunpoint

A man looking at a car for sale allegedly was robbed by the sellers last month.

A man went to look at a car for sale in the Rosemont area late last month, but ended up being robbed instead, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Departent.

The victim was looking at a brown, four-door 1989 Buick Cutlass listed on Craigslist, and met the owner and a third man near Folsom Boulevard and Manlove Road on Nov. 30.

The potential buyer got in the car with the two other men, who drove a short distance before pulling over and robbing him at gunpoint, according to a sheriff's department crime log. They took money and a cell phone from the victim, then left him on the side of the road, the report states.

The crime occurred on Nov. 30 and was reported that evening, but didn't show up on a sheriff's department crime log until last week. Department spokesman Dep. Jason Ramos said he didn't know the cause of the delay.

The suspects–the seller and his accomplice–are described as two black males. The driver is in his early 20s, has a skinny build and stands about 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10 with his hair in corn rows, Ramos said. The accomplice is in his mid-to-late 20s, standing about 5-foot-8, and is heavyset with an afro, Ramos said.
