Monday, Jan. 16, 2012 is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

For some, a federal holiday is a chance to relax, but thousands of Sacramento residents spent Monday morning doing something a little more active.

Monday marked the 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. "March for the Dream," a Sacramento event celebrating King's ideals and visions.

The event traveled six miles from Grant High School, the Oak Park Community Center and Sacramento City College to the Sacramento Convention Center. It's organized by MLK365, a nonprofit organization that has also held several other events over the years. Sacramento City Unified School District Superintendent Jonathan Raymond is among its board members.

Rosemont, were you at Monday's six-mile "marade" (march / parade)? Grant High School, the Oak Park Community Center and Sacramento City College are all well outside of the area, but with event organizers expecting 20,000 attendees, it's likely some may have come from Rosemont.

If you attended the event, share your photos here by clicking "Upload Photos and Videos" above. And leave a comment to let us know what you thought of the event or what should be done to honor King's legacy in the future.
