Do Congressional Districts Matter?

Does it matter who represents Rosemont in Congress?

The California Citizens Redistricting Commission on Friday across the state, and Rosemont could see some big changes.

Currently, Rosemont is included in Rep. Doris Matsui's (D-Sacramento) District 5, which includes the city of Sacramento, south Sacramento and other areas. Under the redistricting commission's draft map, Rosemont could be in the same district as Carmichael, Fair Oaks and Folsom.

But how much will those borders change the work Congress does? According to a Gallup poll in May, only 24 percent of Americans think Congress is doing a good job.
