April 28: Fire District Board Meeting, Mangarama, More

Find out what's happening in and around Rosemont today.

Happy Thursday! Today marks the 19th annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day! Are you planning to take your child to work today? Either way, let your son or daughter enjoy the afternoon with some high school sports, Mangarama or a chance to be on Capital Christian High’s cheerleading squad. You can also make your voice heard today about fire protection at today's Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Board of Directors meeting.

  1. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Board of Directors will meet today at the district's administration building, 2101 Hurley Way. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and residents are encouraged to speak on agenda matters, or anything else that concerns them about fire protection. One of the items on today's agenda a $2,500 grant to the district from insurer FM Global, to be used for the district's Fire Camp.   2. Today’s another great day for some high school sports. At , the girls soccer team will take on Bradshaw Christian High School. The junior varsity will take the field at 4 p.m., so make sure you get there early!
  3. offers no home games for today, but the Wolverines will be close by! The boys baseball team will head to Florin High School, 7925 Cottonwood Lane, for a 4 p.m. match up. At the same time, and in the same place (different field, of course), the girls soccer team will also take on Florin High.
  4. The Rancho Cordova Library will be offering a fun and unique way for the manga fanatics in your family to get creative: Mangarama. The library will challenge teens to make 3D dioramas of their favorite manga characters from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  5. Does your Cougar have dreams of cheerleading? Your teen now has the chance to audition for ’s . If he or she doesn’t get the chance to try out today, don’t fret—auditions will be held every day until Friday. Location and times of tryouts are yet to be determined, but you or your teen can contact Julie Filer at 916-856-5600 for more information.
